Alice In Wonderland Blog Meme

The Notebook Sisters turned 3!!! :) I decided to grab their tag and answer the Alice In Wonderland themed questions. Feel free to jump in!

1. Just Alice: What book cover(s) has made you super curious?

Ironically, the cover of Splintered by A.G. Howard always draws me in whenever I see it. I should really read it soon. :P

Splintered (Splintered, #1)

2. Mad Hatter: List the craziest character(s) you've ever read.

Luna Lovegood, probably (unless I'm just forgetting somebody). She's not necessarily crazy, though. Just a little odd. Sometimes I wonder if Luna is really the normal one and everyone else is crazy. ;)

3. Red Queen, Off With Your Head! What book have you felt like beheading?

Trash Can Days by Teddy Steinkellner. :P That and Catcher In the Rye by J.D. Salinger.

4. White Rabbit: What books or series have been insanely popular but you've been "late" to pick them up?

The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater. I need to read them!

5. Caterpillar: What's the most confusing book you've read?

Going Bovine by Libba Bray. (Actually, the craziest character I've ever read might be from that book!)

6. Dormouse: What was the last book that sent you to sleep?

Books never send me to sleep. ;) Not in the way you're implying, anyway. The lull of Jim Dale's voice on the Harry Potter audios is always a great thing to fall asleep to.

7. Cheshire Cat: Book that made you laugh and smile?

The Harry Potter series, though there are plenty more. :)

8. Knave of Hearts: Most recent character who stole your heart?

Carswell Thorne from the Lunar Chronicles, hands down. After Augustus Waters, he might be my biggest book crush.

9. Jabberwocky: Best villain you've read this year?

I haven't read any fantastic villains this year, aside from Voldemort, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Umbridge. Queen Levana from the Lunar Chronicles drives me crazy, though.

10. Down the Rabbit Hole: What's the latest book/series/author that's completely swallowed your interest?

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer!!! :) After finishing Cress, I've been obsessed! (Thank you, Notebook Sisters).

Yes! The Splintered cover is absolutely GORGEOUS! And the story is just as beautiful! ;)

To be honest, I DNF'd the first book in the Raven Cycle series because the writing didn't click with me and I had no idea what the heck was going on; but I know that there are a TON of bloggers who love the series, so I have a feeling that it's just me. I'm interested in seeing what you think about it when you pick it up though!

And yes! HARRY POTTER FOR THE WIN! :D

Voldemort is such a horrible villain. He's got so much depth and development to him, and is SO, SO, SO, SO creepy. Gah! *shudders* But Queen Levena is certainly up there...she drives me crazy as well with all her antics!

Thanks so much for sharing, and great answers! <3

Umbridge, Bellatix and Voldemort are just such good villains! Especially Umbridge ... her little cough, her pink outfits, all the references to toads ... it makes the skin crawl!

@nevillegirl Sounds like me. ;)

@Zoe N. That's how I felt about Under the Never Sky. :P I couldn't get into it, even though all of my other blogger friends adored it!

:D

I know! My villains usually end up as boring, stereotypical bad guys.

@Emily He he. ;) Umbridge is great, in that sense. She doesn't look like someone who could be so evil and manipulative, but she so is!

@Maria (Do you have a while?) ;)

To keep things short and simple, the three biggest reasons why I couldn't stand it are . . .

1. I couldn't stand Holden. I found him to be lazy, whiny, and indifferent about everything in life. There was nothing redeeming about him as a person. He bugged me, and I couldn't relate to him at all.

2. There was no plot. I'm not saying there wasn't any plot at all, but I had a very hard time figuring out what the heck the point of the story was. It seemed like the entire book was page after page about Holden complaining and drinking, drinking and complaining.

3. There was only one part I liked, which was the end, because I was finally done reading it!

As you can see, I'm very opinionated about this book. :P I'm not sure why everyone loves it so much.

Audio books tend to put me to sleep, too! I had a terrible time getting through the last one I listened to.

I've got Splintered in my TBR pile. I really should get around to reading it!

@La Coccinelle Ugh, yes. :P Audio books can be absolutely terrible if it isn't read by an engaging person. That's why I love Jim Dale so much!
