The Help (The Movie)

I finished watching "The Help" yesterday with my mom and dad. Two words: Awe-some. :D Sometimes I read a book and then watch the movie and I think, "Eh," but the movie was really good. I still like the book better, but the movie was really well done and made me cry at some parts. I don't have a favorite character, but Minny's great. :D I'm not going to give anything away for those who haven't read the book yet, but I love when she's telling the story of, "The Terrible Awful." The actress who played Minny actually won an award for the Golden Globes. :D

For those of you who have read the book but haven't watched the movie, watch the movie. It's awesome.

For those of you who have watched the movie but haven't read the book, read the book. It's definitely worth reading.

For those of you who haven't read the book or watched the movie, I recommend both. :D

Oh man, watching her take a bite of that pie the entire movie theater erupted in laughter. GROSS! But so so funny.

I totally cried at the end with the little girl in the window, oh it broke my heart. But I also loved the movie. I thought they did such a great adaptation of the book.

I really enjoyed seeing the movie again, this time with you!

The film is so well cast. I really liked Minnie, of course, and also Celia Foote. I thought she was a fun character. In fact, I even had the thought that her character would be the most fun to play!

I agree with Emily about the little girl in the window. When Aibileen tells the little girl, "You is smart. You is kind. You is important," I just lost it.

OK, now I really need to read the book. I've been planning to and now that I've finished a couple of my "half-way reads" I can pick this one up.

It was fun watching again with you. I can hardly believe you're getting old enough to share these kinds of books and movies! I love it!

I enjoyed both the book and the movie. I saw the movie with friends on a 'girls night out.' I added it to our netflix list so Papa can see it, too. I'll be glad to see it a second time.

I read the book and saw the movie. Both were great. I cried, I laughed. I got angry and also felt happy. It played with lots of emotions.

We just watched rented this movie last weekend and watched it as a family. I enjoyed it and it provided us with an opportunity to discuss racism. I love how it makes no sense at all to my kids.

I loved Celia, she had a heart of gold. My favorite part is when Celia tells Minny to burn the chicken a little so Celia's husband won't know she's getting help cooking. Minny gets offended and says, "Minny don't burn no chicken." That cracked us up!
